computer controlled machining

for this week, my first trial at the shopbot was a complete distaster.

i decided to make a book shelf and a pallankuzhi set. Drawing them out on FreeCad was not too difficult since I had already learnt the programme.

First the pallankuzhi set: Pallankuzhi is a game from Tamilnadu

and my drawing looked like a simple version of this:

i was going to print two of these and attach them together using two hinges

Second was a bookshelf:

While using the shopbot, chucho and I (we were working together), ran into some trouble. The mill refused to turn, and was instead dragging itself through the wood. We ended up with three broken mills. And we couldn't figure out what the problem was - why wasnt it rotating? We checked and re-checked the parameters on the application over and over again. Nothing seemed to work.

failed rastering

we decided to stop for the time being and return to working on this at later point.
